n this note the status of the reconstruction package intended for track reconstruction of heavy ion events in the CMS Tracking system is presented. A brief introduction of the simulation package for heavy ion events is given. The algorithms used in this study are based on the standard reconstruction package intended for p+p events. The modifications to the algorithms necessary to facilitate the track reconstruction in a very high particle density environment are described in detail. Results on the achieved reconstruction efficiency and fake rate are presented
