For varying values of $\tan\beta$, we study the effect of CP violating phases from the soft supersymmetry breaking terms in string-inspired models on the relic abundance and detection rates of the lightest neutralino (LSP). We find that the phases have no significant effect on the LSP relic abundance but a substantial impact on the detection rates
