In 1998 several papers claim the detection of an ubiquitous gaseous phase within the Galactic halo. Here we like to focus on the detections of X-ray emitting gas within the Galactic halo as well as the discovery of a pervasive neutral Galactic halo gas. We discuss critically the major differences between the recent publications as well as the limitations of the analyses
Models of disk galaxy formation commonly predict the existence of an extended reservoir of hot gas s...
Aims: We studied the global distribution and kinematics of the extra-planar neutral gas in the Milky...
Results of a two year ADP study of gas in the Galactic halo are presented. This is partly a summary ...
We investigated a hydrostatic equilibrium model of the Milky Way following Parker (1966), to constra...
We compare the predictions of three physical models for the origin of the hot halo gas with the obse...
I review studies of the hot gaseous medium in and around nearby normal disk galaxies, including the ...
The wealth of data in the past decades, and especially in the past 15 years has transformed our pict...
We discuss the current status of ROSAT shadowing observations designed to search for emission from m...
Although the existence of large-scale hot gaseous halos around massive disk galaxies has been theori...
Hot gaseous halos are predicted around all large galaxies and are critically important for our under...
We have combined observations of Galactic high-velocity H i from two surveys: a very sensitive surve...

Detectable quantities of interstellar material are present in the halo of the Milky Way galaxy and i...
Theoretical thesis.Bibliography: pages 61-66.Introduction -- 2. Survey of weak intensity southern HI...
Various scenarios have been proposed to explain the origin of the Galactic high-velocity clouds, inc...
