The quantum properties of charged black holes (BHs) found by McGuigan, Nappi and Yost are studied in 2D dilaton-Maxwell gravity (spontaneously compactificated from heterotic string) with $N$ dilaton coupled scalars. Working in large $N$ approach we discuss the presence of stable (evaporating) and unstable (anti-evaporating) modes in the spectrum of quantum-corrected BH. It is proved that charged 2D BHs (or spherically reduced 4D and 5D BHs) may not only evaporate but also anti-evaporate. Higher modes may cause the disintegration of BH in accordance with recent observation by Bousso. Quantum corrections to horizon radius, mass, charge, temperature and entropy of 2D BHs are calculated.
