We use (nonconservative) dynamical semigroups to investigate the decay law of a quantum unstable system weakly coupled with a large environment. We find that the deviations from the classical exponential law are small and can be safely ignored in any actual experiment
The method developed by Van Dijk, Nogami and Toyama for obtaining the time-evolved wave function of ...
Quantum dynamical semigroups provide a general framework for studying the evolution of open systems....
Quantum dynamics predicts that a metastable state should decay exponentially except at very early an...
A system prepared in an unstable quantum state generally decays following an exponential law, as env...
States of open quantum systems usually decay continuously under environmental interactions. Quantum ...
The quantum-mechanical theory of the decay of unstable states is revisited. We show that the decay i...
We discuss deviations from the exponential decay law which occur when going beyond the BreitWigner d...
The most important law of radioactivity is that of the exponential decay. In the realm of quantum me...
Unstable states of a general type of many-body system characterized by a combination of outgoing wav...
The temporal behavior of quantum mechanical systems is reviewed. We mainly focus our attention on th...
