Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) constitute the most plentiful immune infiltrate in multiple tumor types and play critical roles at each stage of cancer progression. In breast malignancies, high TAM infiltration is associated with active lymphangiogenesis, lymph node (LN) involvement and distant organ metastasis.
