The article analyses the aesthetics of Senufo mudcloth during different ritual settings and formulates the relationship between textiles and intimacy during divination rituals en practices. This differs from public rituals when textile styles are oriented to attire visual attention to the wearer; the fabric needs to create a glimmering shine or ‘out coming light’. The search for visibility is at work during the making process and realised through the combination of graphic elements.
