Statistical examination of basic service markets: access, quality, and affordability

The present report has been written in the framework of the Horizon 2020 research project ‘Rebuilding an Inclusive, Value-based Europe of Solidarity and Trust through Social Investments’ (RE-InVEST). The RE-InVEST project aims to contribute to more solidary and trustworthy Europe, through an inclusive, powerful and effective social investment strategy at the European Union level. This report is prepared in the context of Work Package 6 (WP6: Building blocks for a social investment model: Social minimum standards in service markets”) of the RE-InVEST project. The report constitutes Deliverable D6.2 of the RE-InVEST: ‘Report Quantitative Analyses’. In WP6, RE-InVEST aims to combine qualitative participatory methodology with advanced quantitative research methods to assess the importance and potential of social investment policies across a number of social policy areas. The content of the present report consists of descriptive and multilevel statistical analyses that provide a quantitative examination of access, quality, and affordability of services across European countries in four basic service markets: healthcare, housing, water services, and financial services.
