Abstract

Since the discovery of large hydrocarbon reservoirs in the North Sea and in Texas in the 60s, chalk has been widely studied. However, it appeared recently that our knowledge of poor- reservoir quality chalks with lower porosity and permeability values (porosity <20% and permeability <0.2mD) is limited. This study aims to investigate simultaneously the sedimentology, fracture network, petrophyics and mechanical properties, in order to understand their relationships in those tight chalks.
