This paper outlines the concept of monitoring the mechanical behaviour of simple adhesive joints during artificial ageing experiments. The proposed research is a vital step in the elaborate process of improving lifetime prediction of adhesive joints in structural applications. It outlines how all physically relevant parameters of the studied adhesive joints are captured during ageing and what is the applied strategy to correlate these. Furthermore, an extensive procedure is outlined to cross-validate the results of the monitoring campaign with results from typical destructive tests used in an industrial scale.status: publishe
