Lecture: From Ordinary Object to Sculpture - Key Supervisory Moments

Key supervisory moments of the Phd 'From Ordinary Object to Sculpture' prs* 0: I made a video where I speak of the specific qualities of the drawings. What is a good and what is a bad drawing.(question of the supervisor) prs 1: Construction of â a cloud of meaningâ in my studio with photos, drawings and sculptures. I identified qualities whitin the practice in relation to 2d and 3d, focus on materiality and display. prs 2: Reflections on my older sculptural work. By introducing time as an active part of the work, I identified qualities on form, structure, material, weight. I demonstrated these qualityies by specific sculptural acts like lifting, pushing, roling, unfolding, stacking . prs 3: After some criticale remarks of the board on recent video works, I identified the specific quality of my videowork, where the sculptural act is the key mecanism whereby the videos are structured. prs 4: Opening up the title of the PHD. I reflected on what the word â toâ means to me in the title â From Ordinary Object to Sculptureâ . â toâ as the process of transforming ordinary objects into sculptures. I curated a groupshow with works of eights artists, me included. By doing so I identified my field of practice. prs 5: Connecting a drawing method to the space of my studio allowed me to contextualize the drawingmethod to the spacial and material context of my studio. (remark of the supervisor) Inbetween prs 5 and 6: Sitting down and reflecing and writing on what the specific qualities are whitin the practice. I looked into the different aspect of the practice that I identified when cunstrucing the cloud of meaning, and I intensivly elaborated on that during 4 months.
