In this paper, the feasibility of using equivalent orthotropic material for the structural behavior prediction of a laminated stator core from an electric machine is firstly validated through comparison with experimental results. Subsequently a state-of-the-art homogenization technique used for equivalent material parameter identification is performed such that one can demonstrate the unfeasibility to match the exact experimental natural frequencies with this method. Finally, some guidelines for more accurate identification schemes are proposed.
