Already during the 2010 Trieste conference on PSI interpreting, we made a plea for the “next step in the CBI (Community Based Interpreting) professionalisation process” through training the public service providers (Salaets, 2012). Terminology was not clear at that time and still isn’t: PSI and Community Interpreting are both still used but are always not interchangeable. However, this contribution is not about terminology but about the training of public service providers meaning doctors, nurses, therapists etc. and also legal actors like police officers, judges, lawyers etc. We were not the first, nor will we be the last to detect the need for this type of training and the call for shared responsibility (see Corsellis 1997, 2000, 2006, ...
