This doctoral research suggested reconsidering the value of atypical open space in the contemporary neo-liberal city through the way it is incorporated in the collective and individual everyday life. The research’s area of interest is Amman, the Capital of Jordan, which comprises a little less than half the country’s population. The city’s unique shock-wave growth pattern caused by turbulent regional conditions has shaped its dual morphological structure of built and open. Officially, this structure is considered as fragmented and in need for development intensification strategies.
