This article offers an analysis of the cyclical processes that have affected the evolution of the infix -ID(I)- from Latin to Dolomitic Ladin. This derivational morpheme underwent a process of inflectional integration in the first conjugation class of Dolomitic Ladin, but this (partial) integration presents an interesting diatopical and diastratal variation, which is turned more complex through the additional impact of glottopolitical factors (relating to the status of the various Ladin dialects), lexical parameters (different behavior of inherited verbs vs. neologisms), and semantic-pragmatic factors (functional exploitation of infixing in order to mark aspectual distinctions).status: publishe
