On the basis of the existing literature (including my former work in the history of educational sciences), it is quite easy to formulate a number of hypotheses on the attractiveness of psychology for educational research. Generally speaking, one may assume that there has been during the twentieth century a growing interest for psychology in educational research. The takeover of ‘experimental pedagogy’ by ‘educational psychology’ in the United States as well as in the United Kingdom, even before the Second World War, may be very illustrative in this respect.
