Advanced ceramic materials become more and more important for industrial applications, where resistance against wear, high temperatures and chemicals is primordial. However, compared with metals, advanced ceramics are very difficult to cut due to the elevated hardness. Ultrasonic assisted grinding (UAG) is a very promising process to increase efficiency and reduce costs of machining ceramic materials.
