Phenol degradation in synthetic wastewater by O 3/UV was simulated. The direct ozonation at the lower pH value occurred more slowly as compared to indirect reaction through hydroxyl radicals. Direct ozonation reaction featured first order kinetics with a rate constant of 0.012/sec, while indirect ozonation reaction featured second-order kinetics and a rate constant of 0.100/M-sec.
