A generic architecture for secure home automation servers

Homeautomation systems aim at improving the comfort of the owners and visitors of private houses and/or offices. As the complexity of these systems increases,many home automation systems are extended with a software server. Control over the system is moved from hardware controllers to the software server. However, designing such a server is often no sinecure. This paper presents a generic software architecture that eases the design of home automation servers. The architecture consists of multiple layers (or views). This approach enables the building of a concrete home automation server independent of the under lying hardware and to reuse the server in other systems.
