This contribution underlines the importance of peace negotiations by two petty noblemen during the Dutch Revolt. The brothers-in-law Selles and Tisnacq shared high ranking positions in the Royal Archers Guard at the Spanish Court. Through their descent, titles and court functions, they were seen as crucial mediators during the Dutch Revolt, even if their negotiations did not always result into success.
