While object-oriented programming languages such as Java and C# deliver the main mechanism for implementing enterprise systems, these languages have not kept pace with the rapidly evolving technology of Service-Oriented Computing. The main reason is their insufficient support for dealing with service volatility and service distribution. In this paper, we present ServiceJ, an extension of Java with built-in support for Service-Oriented Computing. ServiceJ bridges the gap between Service-Oriented Computing and Object-Oriented Programming Languages in two ways.
