The Clinical Practice Guideline on which this Quick Reference Guide for Smoking Cessation Specialists is based was developed by an interdiscipHnary, private-sector panel comprising health care professionals and consumer repre- sentatives sponsored by the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (AHCPR) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).The panel employed an explicit, science-based methodology along with expert clinical judgment to develop specific statements on smoking cessation interventions.
