The aim of this article is to study the translation practice of the European Commission’s publications dealing with the employment and the professional development. Particular attention will be given to the dual orientation on which such practice is based. On the one hand, we will observe a strong tendency to the normalization of the macro-textual construction of the source-language text, as regard to the inter-institutional style guide. On the other hand, we will point out to the wide variation possibilities determined both by the adaptation of expressions which are specific to a language-culture and by the stylistic variation inherent the translator’s rewriting of the original text
