Relationship between profitability indices and intangible assets

The purpose of this research was to analyze the relation between the profitability indexes (ROA, ROE and ROI), the intangible asset, the degree of intangibility and the value of the companies listed in B3. In order to achieve this, 357 companies belonging to several economic sectors were surveyed in the period of 2018. For data analysis, the Spearman correlation test was used. The results showed a positive and significant correlation between the value of the company and the total intangible assets and other intangibles, that is, the greater the investment in intangibles, the greater the return to shareholders. Besides, this research pointed out that there is a positive and significant relation between the indices, the degree of intangibility, ROE, ROA, ROI and the value of the company. This way companies that invest more in intangible assets tend to have a higher market value.Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação)Este estudo teve por finalidade analisar as relações existentes entre os índices de rentabilidade (ROA, ROE e ROI), o ativo intangível, o grau de intangibilidade e o valor das empresas listadas na B3. Para tanto, foram pesquisadas 357 empresas pertencentes a diversos setores econômicos no período de 2018. Para análise dos dados, foi utilizado o teste de correlação de Spearman. Os resultados evidenciaram uma correlação positiva e significativa entre o valor da empresa e o ativo intangível total e outros intangíveis, ou seja, quando maior o investimento em intangíveis, maior o retorno para os acionistas. O estudo também apontou que há uma relação positiva e significativa entre os índices, o grau de intangibilidade, ROE, ROA, ROI e o valor da empresa.
