Oscar Cullmann et l’« affaire Lohmeyer » (1946-1951)

In the night of 14th to 15th of February 1946, Ernst Lohmeyer, the New Testament scholar and rector of the University of Greifswald, was abducted by the NKWD, and subsequently executed by the Soviets the 19th of September. Until 1950 his family did not know about his death, and during half a century his assassination was considered justified because of the war crimes he would have committed as an officer of the Wehrmacht. Since 1948, however, Oscar Cullmann (1902-1999) had alerted the Church about Lohmeyer’s fate – he thought he was held prisoner in a Russian camp – and vigorously defended the honour of his colleague.Recteur de l’Université de Greifswald, le néotestamentaire Ernst Lohmeyer (1890-1946) fut enlevé par la NKWD dans la nuit du 14 au 15 février 1946, puis exécuté le 19 septembre suivant par les Soviétiques.
