Eight vivianite specimens showing different oxidation degrees were subjected to Mössbauer spectral measurements. These specimens were previously selected in order to separate the monoclinic phases (vivianite) and the triclinic phases (metavivianite), which are originally mixed in the oxidized vivianites. The identity and homogeneity of each phase were confirmed by X-ray diffraction analyses. The Mössbauer spectra are in accordance with our previous results : metavivianite is a partly oxidized vivianite and is generated by increasing contents of Fe³⁺ in the crystals.
