The aim of this thesis is to characterize the soil surface degradation mechanisms of compacted soils subjected to cyclic rolling solicitations. These cyclic loadings generated by traffic are the main responsible of dust emission during earthworks. The present study was carried out in collaboration with “Fédération Nationale des Travaux Publics” and “Syndicat Professionnel des Terrassiers de France“, as part of their voluntary commitment to better control the water consumption during earthworks implementation, and particularly for dust abatement.
