A top-down approach is presented to achieve cost reduction and optimization of the fuel cell system for a medium duty truck. Key inputs are customer usage and drive cycles leading to optimization of power and torque needs, followed by a three-way optimization between fuel cell system, hydrogen storage and battery size.
