Cognitive functions and psychologic status of cardiac arrest survivors after cardiopulmonary resuscitation [Kardiyopulmoner resüsitasyon uygulanan ve yaşama dönenlerde bilişsel fonksiyonlar ve psikolojik durum]

It was established that cardiac arrest survivors who had undergone cardiopulmonary resuscitation could go through cognitive experiences, and that some of them could accurately recall speciic details of the events they passed through during the period of cardiac arrest demonstrating the presence of a conscious state. Numerous studies have indicated that the majority of cardiac arrest survivors had poor quality of lives, and they were let with behavioral, cognitive, and emotional impairments as well as post-traumatic stress disorders. In addition it has been demonstrated that these near-death experiences had exerted prolonged protective effects on patient's psychological status. Recent studies propose that trained health care professionals must follow these cardiac arrest survivals as for the presence of psychological depression, post traumatic stress disorders, emotional and other cognitive disorders, and treat them appropriately
