Günümüzde fosil yakıtların tükenmekte olması ve çevre kirliliği yaratmaları nedeniyle hidrojen, fosil yakıtlara alternatif olarak gösterilmektedir. Bu çalışmada çevre ile dost ve ekonomik hidrojen üretim teknolojilerinden biri olan alüminyumun sodyum hidroksit (NaOH) çözeltisi ile reaksiyonu incelenmiştir. Bu proses alüminyum korozyonu esasına göre işlemektedir. Burada kullanılan alüminyum, NaOH ve su diğer hidrojen üretim prosesleri ile karşılaştırıldığında oldukça ucuz ham maddeler olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır.
