The objective of this study was to investigate genotypic and allelic frequencies of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) gene polymorphism in the healthy and patients with and without DN. The MCP-1 genotypes were determined in 43 patients with nephropathy and 43 without nephropathy and a control group of 105 healthy individuals. The genotype MCP-1 (-2518G/A) distribution did differ between the control group and the type 2 diabetic patients (P = 0.004).
