The metabolic syndrome is a group of metabolic disorders, namely obesity, glucose intolerance, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. Several epidemiological studies have indicated that the consumption of dairy products, especially low-fat products, was inversely associated with body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, plasma lipids, insulin resistance and type-2 diabetes.
