Rapid and accurate diagnosis of infectious diseases accelerates the initiation of appropriate management and reduces unnecessary additional diagnostic testing, use of antimicrobial therapy, and hospitalizations. Rapid diagnostic tests for infectious diseases are influenced by technologic developments.
