The analytical composition of the constituents with major biological interest of herbal drug St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum L.) and their chromatographical analyses and medical importance of extracts are studied in this review. There are many studies about efficacy of St. John's Wort. Hypericum perforatum is a medicinal plant traditionaly used, both externally and internally, in all Europe for many pathologists. In the last two decades many studies have proved the efficacy of some St. John's Wort extracts in mild to moderate depression and it has been successful as an antidepresant both in Europe and the US.
