Causative microorganisms in exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and their in vitro susceptibility to antibiotics

Kronik Obstrüktif Akciğer Hastalığı (KOAH) alevlenmesi tanısıyla izlenen 120 hastanın balgam örnekleri incelenmiş, soyutlanan etken mikro-organizmalarm in vitro antibiyotik duyarlıkları araştırılmıştır. İncelenen 120 balgam örneğinin 46'sından (% 38) etken soyutlanmıştır. Bunların 16'sı Haemmophilus influenzae. dokuzu Streptococcus pneumoniae olarak tanımlanmıştır. H. influenzae kökenlerinde ampisilin, kloramfenikol, eritromisine direnç saptanmamış, iki köken ko-trimoksazole dirençli bulunmuştur. S. pneumoniae'de beta-laktam ve makrolit direncine rastlanmamıştır.Sputum specimens from 120 patients of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) presenting with acute exacerbation were microbiologically studied and in vitro antibiotic susceptibilities of the isolated microorganisms were determined. Out in 120 sputum samples causative agent was isolated in 46 (% 38). The first two most commonly isolated microorganisms were Haemophilus influenzae (% 35) and Streptococcus pneumoniae (% 20). H. influenzae isolates showed no resistance to ampicillin, chloramphenicol, and erythromycin; two of them had trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole resistance. Beta-lactam and macrolid resistance was not found among S. oneumoniae isolates
