Bu tezde, çesitli karbon yapıların hidrojen depolama kapasiteleri DFT de dahil olmak üzere yarı-ampirik deneysel ve ab initio kuantum kimyasal yöntemlerle hesapsal olarak incelenmistir. DFT ve MP2 yöntemleri deneysel verilere uyumlu olarak göstermistir ki C60 içersine bir hidrojen molekülü depolamak termodinamik olarak elverislidir. Bu çalısmanın sonuçlarına göre karbon nano yapıların özelliklerinin hesaplanmasında MP2 sonuçlarına en yakın degerler veren iki en iyi DFT metodu MPWB1K ve PBE1PBE dir. H2-H2 ve H2-C etkilesim enerjilerinin her ikisi de H2@C60 kompleksinde çekme yönündedir. Ayrıca H2-H2 etkilesim enerjisi 2H2@C60 sisteminde itici iken H2-C etkilesim enerjisi çekme yönündedir.
