Mukozit, kemoterapi ve radyoterapinin toksik bir etkisidir. Total parenteral beslenme ve opioid analjezik kullanım gereksinimini, hastanede yatış süresini, infeksiyon riskini artırır ve hastanın yaşam kalitesini olumsuz etkiler. Uluslar arası birçok disiplinden oluşan Kanserde Destek Bakım Çok Uluslu Birliği (Multinational Association of Supportive Cancer Care in Cancer) ve Uluslararası Oral Onkoloji Birliği (International Society of Oral Oncology) uzmanları mukozitin önlenmesi, değerlendirilmesi ve tedavisinde klinik uygulama rehberleri geliştirmişlerdir. Bu derlemenin amacı mukozit yönetiminde kanıta dayalı klinik uygulama rehberlerini incelemektir. Hemşireler mukozit yönetiminde kanıta dayalı klinik uygulama rehberlerini uygulama ve değerlendirmede önemli bir role sahiptirler.Mucositis is a toxic effect of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. It can increase the need for total parenteral nutrition and opioid analgesics, prolong hospital stays, increase the risk of infection, and diminish a patient’s quality of life. The Multinational Association of Supportive Cancer Care in Cancer and International Society of Oral Oncology assembled an international multidisciplinary panel of experts to create clinical practice guidelines for the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of mucositis.
