There is a striking variation in the cumulative incidence of febrile convulsions (FC) over the world. The prevalence studies in Turkey are insufficient to indicate the significance of FC as a common health problem. In this study, the prevalence of FC and the attitude of the parents against fever were investigated in a rural area of Aegean region of Turkey with a warm climate. The study group consisted-of 596 children which were selected by randomized exemplifying technique. A questionnaire was filled in by the same investigator for every case after interviewing mothers face to face during home visits.
