Corpus callosum connects the two cerebral hemispheres and forms the roof of the lateral ventricles. A topographical organisation of the callosal fibers exists here, related to the cortical regions it connects. The genu of the adult corpus callosum makes the connection between the two prefrontal cortices, the truncus motor, somatosensorial and sensorial cortices. There are sex-related differences in the corpus callosum morphology, as the splenium is larger in females. The anterior part of the corpus callosum is smaller in Down syndrome, genu, splenium and rostrum is smaller in attention defficiency hyperactivity disorder, and the splenium is smaller in otism syndromes, when compared to normal individuals
