Caatinga Freshwater Ichthyofauna Checklist.

O Brasil abrange grande parte das espécies de peixes de água doce do mundo. A caatinga, bioma exclusivamente brasileiro, apresenta uma diversidade de espécies pouco estudada. Neste trabalho foi elaborada uma lista de espécies de peixes de água doce encontradas na caatinga. A compilação das espécies registradas neste bioma foi baseada em uma busca na plataforma online Species link. Foram encontradas 255 espécies classificadas em 9 ordens e 32 famílias. As ordens Characiformes (118) Siluriformes (72) e Perciformes (40) foram as mais representativas quanto ao número de espécies. Characidae foi a família com o maior número de espécies coletadas na caatinga. Astyanax bimaculatus foi a espécie mais abundante, seguida por Serrapinnus heterodon. A Bahia é o estado da federação dentro do bioma caatinga que apresenta o maior número de lotes depositados nas coleções estudadas e o estado com menor número de lotes depositados foi Sergipe. Os estados da Paraíba e Pernambuco merecem destaque para futuros levantamentos de fauna, pois apresentam regiões com ausência de lotes de peixes depositados nas coleções científicas. Seis espécies registradas encontram-se ameaçadas de extinção. A caatinga ainda encontra-se com regiões com poucos levantamentos da ictiofauna, desta forma é importante destacar a necessidade e importância da realização de inventários para o conhecimento da biodiversidade na região. The caatinga is an exclusively Brazilian biome with little studies about freshwater fish species. On this paper we developed a list of freshwater fish species found in the caatinga. The compilation of registered fish species in this biome was based on online search on Species link platform. We found 255 fish species classified in 9 orders and 32 families. The orders Characiformes (118) Siluriformes (72) and Perciformes (40) were most representative regard to the number of species. Characidae was the family with largest number of species collected in the caatinga. Astyanax bimaculatus was the most abundant species, followed by Serrapinnus heterodon. Bahia is the Brasilian State within caatinga biome with highest number of lots deposited in consulted collections; and the state with the lowest number of lots deposited was Sergipe. Paraiba and Pernambuco are noteworthy for future fauna surveys, since they have landscape regions with absence of freshwater fish species lots deposited in scientific collections. Six recorded species are threatened of extinction. The caatinga still has regions with few surveys of ichthyofauna and it is important to emphasize the importance of executing inventories to know fish species biodiversity in the region
