As dificuldades para a prática da leitura e da escrita na escola são associadas, muitas vezes, às metodologias sugeridas ao professor, especificamente nas aulas de Língua Potuguesa do Ensino Fundamental II. Diante disso, esse trabalho, seguindo a proposta do PROFLETRAS, apresenta um aparato teórico no qual se baseiam as discussões e análise de livros didáticos, e uma proposta de intervenção para a prática de leitura e escrita, por meio do gênero textual conto moderno.
