Not AvailableIn order to fulfil the basic requirement and earning point of view, the world is shifting from a rural population to high concentration in the urban area at the moment. This situation seems dangerous, and urban areas have been shifting very rapidly to rural agricultural lands. Vegetable farms are far away from areas of food consumption. This situation creates critical condition to the vegetable producer who faces problems to bring the right food to the right place with a minimum of losses. Post-harvest problems can do substantial losses, and its volume depends on the country, crop and technology. Most of the developing countries are situated in tropical regions where high temperature, water shortage and humidity create many problems. Moreover, the developing countries are also lacking behind in advance technology in comparison with countries such as the United States of America, Japan, Australia and European countries, which are applying technically advanced technologies to minimize losses. Sighting the current scenario, changes in climate such as water scarcity, increase in population and rapid increase of food demand make the researchers to emphasize not only to improve the nutritional quality and food quantity but also to enhance the shelf life of vegetables by using the biotechnological tools (Abano and Buah, 2014).
