This article develops an interdisciplinary theoretical framework for the analysis of corruption, in which rationality, formal institutions and social norms play a role. It employs a well-known Theory of action in empirical social sciences - the "Theory of Planned Behaviour" by I. Ajzen (1991). Including modificatiopns by the "New Institutional Economics" by North (1991), as well as the approaches from Social Psychology (Bentler and Speckart 1979) and Sociology (Coleman 1991), we have generated a microfounded and empirically tesable "theory of corruption and its prediciton". This complex theory is based on the integration of findings in corruption research in Economics, Law, Sociology and Culture
