In spite of their many potential applications, recombinant antibody molecules selected by phage display are rarely available commercially, one reason being the absence of robust bacterial expression systems that yield sufficient quantities of reagents for routine applications. We previously described the construction and validation of an intrabody library that allows the selection of single-chain Fv (scFv) fragments solubly expressed in the cytoplasm.
