2 h 06 minA lecture and screening by Apichatpong Weerasethakul (b. 1970, Thailand). Weerasethakul began making films and video shorts in 1994 and completed his first feature in 2000. Lyrical and mysterious, his nonlinear works deal with memory and subtly invoke social issues. He works outside the commercial Thai film industry, devoting himself to promoting experimental and independent filmmaking through his production company Kick the Machine Films, which he founded in 1999. In 2010, his film “Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives” won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, France.
