Granulatimide and isogranulatimide are two imidazo[4,5a]pyrrolo[3,4-c]carbazole marine alkaloïds reported as checkpoint G2 inhibitors targeting specifically the checkpoint kinase 1. One proposes that such inhibitors used in association with a genotoxic treatment should enhance it resulting in a reduction of side effects. Two types of new potential checkpoint G2 inhibitors have been studied. The first one is an analogue of the natural product variously substituted on the indole moiety and in which the imidazole ring has been replaced either by a pyrrol or a pyrazol ring.
