International audienceThis article presents a diachronic analysis of skateboarders’ athletic, associative and political engagement in their sport. The data was drawn from association records, the personal archives of skateboarders, semi-directive interviews and press articles. The analysis focused on the transformations in the local context and revealed three generations of practitioners. The succession of generations reflects the changes in the local context that had an impact on skateboarding styles, the conditions of practice, sociability, and relationships with municipal officials.
