Éducation thérapeutique du patient amputé : rôle de l'ergothérapeute dans la collaboration interprofessionnelle

Introduction: early fitting and education of amputee patients are recommended. Recently, health professionals have been using therapeutic education strategies that promote the autonomy of the amputee patient in the management of his or her daily life. The purpose of this study was to understand how occupational therapists contribute to improving quality of life by collaborating with other professionals in Therapeutic Patient Education programs (TPE).Method: a qualitative approach was used: 4 health professionals from the same unit, trained in TPE, were interviewed.The verbatims were analyzed with the NVivo® software. They were also analyzed in view of the model of human occupation and the concepts of quality of life and interprofessional collaboration.Results: this study showed that the impact of TPE programs on the quality of life depends on several factors, including interprofessional collaboration, coordination and personalization. Occupational therapists work on specific topics that are subject to change.Conclusion: the methods used in therapeutic education tend to influence the positive evolution of the quality of life of amputees. Occupational therapists are involved in a variety of themes and are part of an interprofessional collaborative approach.Introduction : l’appareillage précoce et l’éducation des patients amputés sont recommandés. Depuis peu, les professionnels de santé ont recours à des stratégies d’éducation thérapeutique qui permettent de favoriser l’autonomie du patient amputé dans la gestion de sa vie au quotidien. Cette étude avait pour but de comprendre comment l’ergothérapeute participe à l’amélioration de la qualité de vie en collaborant avec d’autres professionnels au sein de programme d’Éducation Thérapeutique du Patient.Méthode : une approche qualitative a été utilisée : 4 professionnels de santé d’un même service formés à l’ETP ont été interrogés. Les verbatims ont été analysés avec le logiciel NVivo®. Ils ont aussi été analysés au regard du modèle de l’occupation humaine et des concepts de qualité de vie et de collaboration interprofessionnelle.Résultats : cette étude a montré que l’impact des programmes d’ETP sur la qualité de vie dépend notamment de plusieurs facteurs : la collaboration interprofessionnelle, la coordination et la personnalisation. L’ergothérapeute intervient sur des thématiques spécifiques, mais qui sont amenées à évoluer.Conclusion : les méthodes utilisées en éducation thérapeutique tendent à influencer l’évolution positive de la qualité de vie des personnes amputées. L’ergothérapeute investit des thématiques variées et s’inscrit dans une démarche de collaboration interprofessionnelle
