Os diferenciais de rendimentos por gênero no Rio Grande do Sul: uma aplicação do Modelo de Heckman e da Decomposição de Oaxaca-Blinder

This dissertation aims to analyze the differential earnings between men and women in Rio Grande do Sul and in the main towns of its seven mesoregions. Therefore, from the database of the Census 2010 - IBGE, is estimated an equation of the type mincerian with correction for self-selection, in order to assess the factors that are determinant on the income of individuals. The results show that education has a fundamental role in the determination of income, however, their returns show different behavior between the municipalities. In this context, we highlight the cities of Porto Alegre and Santa Maria, where the returns are higher than those reported in the state. After, it holds the decomposition of the earnings differential by gender through the Oaxaca-Blinder procedure. The decomposition of this differential observes that there is statistical discrimination against women in the state in all municipalities analyzed, but with different magnitudes. In Caxias do Sul, this differential is well above the one of the state, because most of the men are inserted in the sector of the economy that employs the most in the city.Esta dissertação tem por objetivo analisar o diferencial dos rendimentos entre homens e mulheres no Rio Grande do Sul e nos principais municípios de suas sete mesorregiões. Para tanto, a partir da base de dados do Censo 2010 – IBGE, é estimada uma equação do tipo minceriana com correção para auto-seleção, com o intuito de avaliar os fatores que são determinantes nos rendimentos dos indivíduos. Os resultados mostram que a educação tem papel fundamental na determinação dos rendimentos, entretanto, seus retornos apresentam comportamento diferenciado entre os municípios. Neste contexto, destacam-se os municípios de Porto Alegre e Santa Maria, nos quais os retornos são maiores que os registrados no estado. Após, realiza-se a decomposição do diferencial de rendimentos por gênero a partir do procedimento de Oaxaca-Blinder. A decomposição deste diferencial constata que existe discriminação estatística contra as mulheres no estado e em todos os municípios analisados, porém, com magnitudes diferenciadas. Em Caxias do Sul, este diferencial está bem acima do registrado no estado, pelo fato dos homens estarem inseridos em grande maioria no setor da economia que mais emprega neste município
