Do Latim ao Português moderno: a questão do latinismo como terminologia: From Latin to modern Portuguese: Latinisms in modern Portuguese

This article, with the theoretical support in the authors of Lexicology and Classical Literature, objective ponder critically about the option for the maintenance of certain Latinisms in modern Portuguese. For this, we dedicated a few pages to the campus word analysis, due to the recent positioning of the Brazilian Academy of Letters in response to the Ministry of Education consulted about the possibility of Latin word of Anglicization mentioned, when it refers to land and buildings a university. In the end, it is concluded that the maintenance of certain terminology, when applied to specialized areas, are fully functional.Este artigo, com o aporte teórico de autores da seara da Lexicologia e das Letras Clássicas, objetiva ponderar criticamente acerca da opção pela manutenção de determinados latinismos no Português moderno. Para isso, dedicam-se algumas laudas à análise da palavra campus, devido ao recente posicionamento da Academia Brasileira de Letras em resposta à consulta do Ministério da Educação acerca da possibilidade de aportuguesamento do vocábulo latino mencionado, quando este se referir aos terrenos e edifícios de uma universidade. Ao fim, conclui-se que a manutenção de certas terminologias, quando aplicadas a áreas especializadas, são plenamente funcionais.
